Foreign farm owners treated like criminals
The eight Rumanians and the Israeli were supposed to follow the local police through the walking street but before they reached the police station, a representative from Vitfoss came and sort things out.
Vitfoss’ export leader Lars O. Madsen was shocked:
“It is shameful that our foreign customers are treated like this. These people are very important customers for us. 30 percent of our revenue came from Eastern Europe,” Lars O. Madsen says to DR Syd.
Respectable clothing
The Israeli and the Rumanians are owners of big farms in Rumania with thousands of cows.
It was apparently one of the shop owners at the walking street that contacted the police at the sight of a group of foreigners.
Lars O. Madsen explained that the customers were wearing respectable clothing and were no different than other Danes in the walking street apart from their language and their dark skin.
“The Danes who promote xenophobia have won. It is my conclusion,” Lars O. Madsen says.
Letter to the business community
He and other leaders in Vitfoss would consider to take their business meetings somewhere else
“We have written a letter to the Business community in Tønder and said that we would be more hesitant about Tønder. We have also asked them to se which people these affect on. Just because one is a foreigner, he is not necessarily a criminal,” Lars O. Madsen says.
Vitfoss is owned by Danish Agriculture Company (DLG) and produce vitamins and minerals for feed industry. The company has 400 employees.
